CCHR is a non-profit, public benefit organization dedicated to investigating and exposing psychiatric violations of human rights. Anna believes knowledge is power and that literacy holds the key to participation in the world. Coming from Finland where the literacy rate is 100% (in comparison: United States 97% Somalia 38% according to the CIA - The World Fact Book 2002) she was shocked by how many people in the world can not read, or who can read, but do not understand what they are reading. Anna believes that knowing how to read gives a person the skills necessary to exercise their full responsibilities as citizens. It also brings more self-confidence and and gives the student a greater willingness to go to school. It is amazing, that even in the US, as much as half of the adult population has graduated from school without literacy skills necessary to compete for the most desirable jobs. Anna supports www.appliedscholastics.org (established 1972), a non-profit, public benefit organization, that uses study technology to enable students to understand and apply what they have studied and to retain this ability throughout their lives.
